job. You will learn how to develop a job objective, sell your skills to
employers, learn about the local job market, and how to use the Michigan
Talent Bank (MTB). Find out what employers are looking for in a good
employee and how to promote your abilities and experience in a
successful job interview to match employer expectations. You will learn
how to access the hidden job market and network to get your foot in the
door at places you want to work.

Resume and Cover Letter
Workshop
This workshop will provide an overview of what resumes and cover letters
are and how they are used by an employer in making hiring decisions. You
will learn about the different resume formats, and will choose the
format that works best for you. You will learn the basic format of a
cover letter and what information it should include. By identifying and
highlighting individual skills and experience, you will learn to promote
yourself on paper to a prospective employer.

Interviewing Workshop
This workshop will cover effective interview techniques and will discuss
what to do before, during and after the interview, tips for answering
interview questions, and how to follow-up after the interview. You will
be provided a list of possible questions that an employer may ask during
the interview process, and good questions to ask the employer. Learn
convincing ways to sell yourself to an employer and effective strategies
for handling tough questions. Have the opportunity to practice in a
“mock” interview.

Conflict Resolution Workshop
You can’t avoid conflict in your life: at work, at home, anywhere people
interact. Too often, disagreements lead to harsh consequences like
violence or job loss; however, they don’t have to. There can be positive
outcomes if conflict is handled with thought and attention. The bad news
is that most of us are fairly limited to how we handle conflict and
generally end up adding fuel to the fire. This workshop is provided to
give you the best tools to resolve conflicts effectively.
