Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
Training
The Certified Nurse Aide Training prepares individuals for successful
completion of the state’s nurse aide competency examination, assisting
patients in maximum functional independence, observing patient rights
and applying proper body mechanics. Eligibility requirements include
attending a preliminary, mandatory workshop, interviewing to be selected
for the program, meeting eligibility requirements for particular funding
programs (optional), TB test, and background check.

CPR and First Aid programs are designed to give
participants the confidence to respond in an emergency situation with
skills that can save a life, whether you work with children, want
training for employees, are a professional rescuer, or simply want to
know how to help someone in an emergency.
First Aid
This popular course combines lecture, demonstration, and video with
hands-on training and practice. Participants in this course learn to
recognize and respond to emergencies including shock, cardiac and
breathing emergencies for adults, children and infants, heat and cold
emergencies, sudden illnesses and poisonings. Additionally, participants
will learn first aid for everything from cuts and scrapes to muscle,
bone and joint injuries. Students completing this course will receive an
American Heart Association First Aid certification card valid for two
years.

CPR
This course teaches participants how to recognize and care for breathing
and cardiac emergencies in infants, children and adults. It also
includes the use of Automatic External Defibrillators. Students
completing this course will receive an American Heart Association CPR
certification card valid for two years and a CPR mask to take home and
add to their own emergency first aid kits. This class is intended only
for students who have never before received a CPR certification card or
their certification has lapsed and is expired. Please call KAL•TEC at
